See a Rocket Launch and a Supermoon on Tuesday

Stargazers in the Mid-Atlantic region are in for a treat on Tuesday, August 1st. Not only will there be a rocket launch from Wallops Island.

Virginia, but it will also coincide with the Sturgeon Full Moon, a rare supermoon.

The rocket launch is scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The target is a commercial communications satellite called GRACE-FO, which will be used to study Earth's gravity field.

The launch will be visible from much of the Mid-Atlantic region, including Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

The Sturgeon Full Moon will reach its peak at 7:31 p.m. EDT. This is the first of two supermoons in August, with the second one occurring on August 31st.

A supermoon occurs when the Moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit. This makes the Moon appear larger and brighter than usual.

If you're planning to see the rocket launch and the Sturgeon Full Moon, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, the launch will be visible from much of the Mid-Atlantic region, but it will be best seen from areas with a clear view of the eastern sky.

If you're looking for a place to watch the rocket launch and the Sturgeon Full Moon, there are a few options. The Wallops Island Visitor Center will be open for viewing the launch, but parking is limited.

You can also watch the launch from many other locations in the Mid-Atlantic region.
